Established in September 1988, KGI Securities (KGI Taiwan) started out focusing on retail brokerage, proprietary trading and underwriting, before expanding into fixed-income trading, foreign institutional brokerage services, global negotiable securities trading, overseas underwriting and various derivatives and transactions. Starting out with initial market capitalization of NT$1bn and just one branch in Taiwan, KGI Securities has actively looked for best opportunities to expend its operation scale. In 2009, KGI completed a major capital injection through the issuance of GDRs and merged with Taishin Securities on December 19. After the capital injection and merger, KGI Securities’capital size increased to NT$32.69bn and NAV increased to NT$47.9bn. Currently KGI securities has 88 operation sites in Taiwan and is now the second largest securities company in Taiwan. KGI Securities will continue to work toward becoming the best investment bank in the Asia-Pacific region.
